I made my entrance onto the accompanying scene in the 2015 Adelaide Cabaret Festival – a baptism by fire, as I think of it! – although it was made much easier by working with the wonderful David Gauci.
The experience opened up a love for the world of cabaret, and working with more artists since really developed my passion for the art form. I am always looking to take on more work. So if you're developing a show and would like a pianist, please feel free to read my reviews and testimonials, and if you think we will be a good fit, send a message via my booking enquiry form below!
It Was Worth the Weight (Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2015) was sold out, David and Josh featured in the Opening Gala Concert, and the pair earned a nomination in the Adelaide Theatre Guide Awards (Best Show – Cabaret). Critics wrote:
"Belperio is more than just an addition to the show or a self-effacing accompanist sitting quietly at the piano. He is as funny as Gauci and is a wonderful pianist to boot."
— Linda Edwards, Adelaide Theatre Guide, 2015
"A remarkable pianist"
— Brian Godfrey, Glam Adelaide, 2015
"Josh was a gift from the piano Gods. I was not able to meet him, let alone rehearse with him, until a few hours before my opening night, but he was so incredibly well-prepared that it did not matter. Josh was the perfect addition to my cabaret. He has a high level of professionalism and efficiency, he is a master on the piano, and he willingly plays along with jokes and jibes. I felt a great connection to him onstage, and I highly recommend him to those in need of an accompanist or pianist."
